What are Eyelash Extensions ?
Eyelash extensions are synthetic eyelashes that are applied individually to the natural lashes for a longer and fuller look. A full set takes a couple of hours. The lashes should be touched up every two to four weeks to maintain their full appearance.
In general, people lose 1 to 3 natural eyelashes per day. The life of a natural eyelash is 100 days. Lash loss is normal and often goes unnoticed. Eyelash extensions can only be applied to mature lashes. The youngest natural lashes are too short and weak to take an extension. But your lashes are always maturing and will eventually be strong enough to take an extension.
Proper cleaning of your eyelash extensions is crucial to prevent bacterial infection and eye irritation. You naturally exfoliate dead skin sells and natural oils which if not cleaned will weaken the adhesion of the extension. Maintaining the lashes also allows them to retain their original shape and texture for longer periods of time. Clean your lashes at least once a day with a non oil based wash. I recommend any hand soap foam or baby shampoo that won't irritate the eyes. Using a soft makeup brush or a lint free makeup sponge gently clean the the lash extensions starting on your eyelid gently brushing the length of the extension. Rinse, Repeat, Rinse.
Sleep patterns affect the longevity of the lash adhesion. If you are prone to sleeping face down in your pillow you will have issues with lash extension loss. A silk pillow case can help reduce the loss. Clients that prefer sleeping on one side will experience more loss on that side.
To prepare for your appointment please cleanse lashes of any mascara or eyeliner.
After your appointment you will need to keep your extensions dry for 24 hours to let the glue cure properly
